COMBI CAMP BECOMES MORE SUSTAINABLE WITH ECOHEMP TENT FABRIC

At our customer Combi-Camp, we continuously work on improving the product. This makes camping comfort and sustainability the most important principles. TenCate Outdoor Fabrics likes to work with customers when it comes to innovative tent fabric. The most current development is sustainability and the answer to this is TenCate EcoHemp tent cloth. This is a unique tent fabric with a mix of hemp, organic cotton and recycled polyester.

Combi-Camp works with suppliers who value sustainability. The protection of people and the environment is closely monitored during the production process and in the end product. TenCate Outdoor Fabrics is one of those suppliers that has secured sustainability objectives in ISO 14001 certification and is committed to the REACH guidelines. The use of the raw materials in TenCate EcoHemp leads to a significant reduction in the CO2 footprint, reduction of energy costs and savings on water consumption throughout the production process. TenCate EcoHemp is woven in accordance with the strict provisions of the Organic Content Standard (OCS) and Global Recycing Standard (GRS).

EcoHemp tent fabric consists of 20% hemp
Hemp grows under very simple conditions. It requires little water during growth and during the further processing process and needs little to no crop protection. In addition, it has similar breathability and moisture management properties compared to cotton. EcoHemp consists of 20% hemp.

EcoHemp tent fabric consists of 50% recycled polyester
Polyester is a popular raw material in the camping industry because it is strong in relation to its weight. By adding recycled polyester, in which, for example, old fishing nets have been processed, the pressure on the environment is reduced. This makes the EcoHemp fabric sufficiently strong to enable the long life of tents, without affecting the breathable properties. EcoHemp consists of 50% recycled polyester.

EcoHemp tent fabric consists of 30% Organic Cotton
Finally, another part (30%) of organic cotton is added. This is to get the ideal mix of comfort, durability and quality. Organic cotton is completely organically grown, using only natural crop protection products.

Features for campers
This environmentally friendly tent fabric is rot and mold resistant, breathable and water repellent. Tensile strength, color fastness and water column are the same as the usual cotton types used for folding trailers. Ideally suited for folding trailers that last a long time, such as those from Combi-Camp. A progressive folding trailer brand since 1963.

Concepts:
ISO14001 Guideline for environmental management systems, whereby the entire organization must meet well-defined requirements in order to be allowed to carry the certificate.

REACH  European regulation for chemicals. The abbreviation REACH stands for Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemical Substances, in which the burden on the environment is an important factor.

Organic Content Standard (OCS) applies to non-food products containing 95 to 100 percent biological material.

Global Recycling Standard (GRS) indicates that one or more material types of clothing and other products consists of at least 50% recycled material
